New and Noteworthy – March 2017

#Research4Refugees Update:

The final report of the #Reseach4Refugees research-a-thon has been published. It questions the legality of Canada’s participation in the Safe Third Country Agreement as it violates both the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Canada’s international obligations.

Research Resources:

Climate Change and Law Collection (Brill)
This comprehensive collection of climate change and law documents contains original source, non-edited and non-redacted “grey literature” on climate change and the law, including corporate law, environmental law, and human rights law. Materials in the collection originate from a wide range of organizations in the public and private sector, institutions, and/or individuals, world-wide. (The Library is trialing this product; we welcome feedback about it.)

HeinOnline Update:

After completing trials of the following, the Library is now subscribing to HeinOnline’s Immigration Law & Policy and History of Supreme Court Nominations collections.

HeinOnline now features a large number of provincial statutes in their Provincial Statutes of Canada collection. Current, revised, and historical content is available for Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario. Historical and revised content only is available for Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.

Stay dry:

While it may still feel like Winter, Spring and its eponymous showers are just a week away. As such, the Library now lends umbrellas. They can be signed out for 24 hours from the Circulation Desk.

Extended hours:

With exams soon upon us, the Library’s extended hours begin on March 20, 2017. For more information, please see here.

And now for something completely different …

If you’ve ever ordered an item from U of T’s Downsview storage facility, you probably didn’t think twice about it as the item was seamlessly and quickly delivered to St. George campus. Well, as this video shows us, it’s worth thinking twice about.
